CBGC Updates 23-01-2021

Welcome to our first newsletter or 2021! We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and New Years!

It has been a very quiet start to the year with the return of the border closures however, now that we have been classified as a green zone we will hopefully begin to see a few more visitors playing golf.

A reminder that with the warmer weather coming up that you ensure you fully understand what the heat policy entails. If the weather forecasted is 40 degrees or higher at 3pm the day prior to competition the new policy states that all competition play will be rescheduled for an 8:00am shotgun. No Competition play will be permitted after this time.

In this weather it is important that you look after your health and therefore we recommend that you drink plenty of water, wear loose fit clothing, wear sun protective clothing and sunscreen. If you do feel unwell please make staff aware and we can assist you.

COURSE REPORT
Over the next four weeks, scarifying will be completed on selected thick fairways to help with water penetration.
Extra watering will be done around the green surrounds to try and improve the grass cover. This will mean that some bunkers will be wetter than usual however, we will be doing everything we can to avoid this. Therefore, extra sand will be added to the bunkers as well as getting some of the drains working better.
PENNANT
HANDICAP PENNANT
The Goulburn Murray 4B Handicap Pennant is well underway. The first round was played Sunday 11th January against Numurkah at Numurkah and then on the following Sunday against Kialla Cosgrove at Shepparton. Unfortunately the team has lost both matches 4/1. The team will play their 3rd round at Cobram Barooga on Sunday 24th January against Sepparton. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.

YSM PENNANT
After a loss in the first round of YSM pennant back in December, the team were given a walkover victory against Yarrawonga on Sunday 17th January. This means that if they can beat Benalla at Benalla on Sunday 21st February they will earn a place in the final at Cobram Barooga on the 28th February. We wish them all the best in their bid for finals.

LADIES VIRTUAL PENNANT
The Ladies have been competing in the Goulburn Murray Ladies Virtual Pennant Season. Unfortunately the team has lost both of their matches to Shepparton Gold and Shepparton Navy.
